In the Name of Love

My mind is filled with bittersweet memories
Of a dream unrealized that almost came to be:

A friend who has been taken drastically off course
Gambles for closure or a sunset ride on a horse.
A lonely cowboy, riding away on the range,
Wishing his life had never been changed.

Memories of music, laughter, and candles
Make the heartbreak that much harder to handle.
Long, quiet nights spent in loving, warm arms
Were then so effective in warding off harm.

Those nights of peace are now no longer.
My soul burns from the ravages of hunger.

Sparkling eyes, quick wit, and sweet tenderness joined
Passionate kisses that left me defenseless.
Soul touching loving with our eyes open wide,
Sharing every moment with nothing to hide.

Perfectly in tune with every thought and deed
While wonderfully harmonious in words and creed.

A comfortable companion who was unlike any other:
He was a good friend who had become my soulful lover.
Please, God, put him on the right path for Love:
Place him with me with Your blessing from Above.
Please set his troubled heart and mind to rest.
Let him give her just the right and true test.

Then when she fails to see the way to pass,
Please send him home to me at long last.

You know my love does shine true, strong, and real.
For my heart, he'd never have to kneel!
I want him as he is, nothing more and nothing less.
My life, for having him in it, is wonderfully blessed.

I wouldn't change him for anything in this world.
Anyone who would 'in the name of Love' is absurd.
