Night has come forth, many hours ago
A peaceful rain is falling, gentle and slow
Lamplight glimmers on ripples of puddles
Long distance vision is cloudy and muddled
Rivers of water racing down waterspouts sound
Rhythmic and soothing against the world's endless pound
Dampness and cold creep through to the bone
As I sit high above the earth all alone
Stars there are none to see in the sky
Only a cloudy dark vision beheld by the eye
Rarely is a car to be heard or be seen
To shatter the pleasure in a rainy midnight scene
