My Equal

I will not shed a tear for you
I shall harden my heart
Against such foolishness

Touch me? Never!

When a man lays his
Hand upon my breast
It will be with caresses of love

I see no indication of
That emotion within you

When I pledge my
Allegiance to one
It shall be he
Who has bestowed
Caring and trust upon me

I long for no superman
Who builds cities and riches
For me

I simply desire the man
Who is hard-working
Loyal, honest, and responsible

Not a boy-child
Impersonating a grown-up

I require the man
Who'll stand by me
And put forth
One hundred percent

I need the man
Who is my equal
