Marilyn Marie

Every time I look at my daughter I see
Pieces of the happy child I used to be

The smile, the eyes, the tilt of her head
Bring forth laughter, yet tears of dread

Will she struggle through the same life as me?
Or will she become the woman I wish her to be?

Her charm, her ways, her wisdom beyond her years
Cause me to laugh despite my motherly fears

She shines with a light that's all her own
It attracts others, so she'll never be alone

I love her so much, it hurts my heart
Yet I know that she will forever be a part

Of the best Me there has ever been
Just look at her once, and this you'll see, my friend
